Ben Sum received his MFA from Texas Tech University. He is an Associate Professor in the Visual and Performing Arts Department of Angelo State University teaching Painting and Drawing. Mr. Sum has conducted many figure drawing and portraiture workshops in the West Texas area and at the Hong Kong Visual Art Center and participated in mural projects in Hong Kong as well as in San Angelo.

An active artist, Mr. Sum maintains a studio in San Angelo. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and overseas. He is a recipient of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council Grant. Mr. Sum's artwork is held in both public and private collections.
