Clay Bodvin
An Object of Lavish Abundance
(1 of 12)
The artist states: "[I] am a product of duality and displacement - hometown, Seattle...live in New Zealand." No formal art studies until the age of 18/Dale Clayton Bodvin until age 20...became Clay Bodvin after two years in Vietnam/full-time advertising and design for 25+ years; practising fine artist for 35+ years.

He takes inspiration for his work from the early 1600s and late 1800s when there was an abundance of "unprecedented consumption," and a "restructuring of people's expectations." Defined by an ability to acquire and consume; still life paintings considered items of status. Inspired as well by the 1950s, when there were similar patterns of excess.
