Artist Statement

My work focuses not only on what is "out there" but on the underlying emotional and psychological forces that make us human. Mythology, religion, literature, music, poetry and visual imagery are all attempts at communicating a sense of what these elemental powers are. Consciously and unconsciously they influence how we feel, think, and experience life in its most fundamental dualities: love - hate - security - fear - happiness - sadness - domination - submission - strength - weakness - confidence - anxiety and so on. These are the "realities" that shape our lives and as an artist I attempt to create imagery that will recreate these in ways that resonate with my viewers.
