Artist Statement: Though my work is listed as digital, I begin each image with acrylic paint, then photograph and digitally enhance the images. I begin by challenging myself with different painting surfaces like foil, paper, canvas, polyester and cotton to see if an inspiring image can appear to me from them. Why begin with acrylic? The medium allows me flexibility to paint quickly. Painting allows me to obtain a depth more than strictly digital work does. I enjoy having the physicality of painting in my work. Why transfer the images to digital? It allows me to enhance the colors, texture and details that can be lost in paint on canvas. The images are highly intuitive in their creation and do not refer to anything specifically. The images are 20x18 C prints on acid free paper. I consider myself a digital artist, and love exploring the endless possibilities of creating my art with the use of the
computer.
