Andy Ellis

digital photography and illustration

Andy Ellis writes, "I am a 22 year old multimedia, visual artist from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. I am just about to complete my multimedia diploma at the International Digital Effects & Animation School in Adelaide, South Australia. After I finished high school, I worked at a winery for 3 years. After this experience, I realised that the only way I was going to live a fulfilling life was to pursue a career in the arts, as art has always been my main passion. I thought it would be wise to get into [digital effects and animation], as it seemed that was where the future was heading. It was also a good chance to focus on all aspects of my artwork. Since then, I have spent the majority of my time refining my skills as an artist. My work generally starts off with a hand drawn image, photograph or painting. Once I have scanned these images, I lay textures over the work taken from photographs or from other media. These textures could be anything from a photograph of a rusty tractor panel, or a piece of ripped-up cardboard. I create art to feel good about myself, and to express myself in ways I feel I wouldn't have the confidence to do verbally. Art means everything to me. It’s something I will always do with my life."
