GIF animations carry a heavy pixel load and in large size are rarely seen on the Web because of the long download time. So Steve Bennett sensibly makes his images very small. Nonetheless, he has elevated gif animation into a high art form. He mostly uses the freeware raytrace program POV-Ray. He says, "I usually prefer to use motion as carefully as possible, to hint at broader vistas that quietly suggest the solemn grandeurs and infinite depths of Time." Accompanying these animations is "a smattering of my personal thoughts usually inspired by the animation itself, although sometimes (rarely) that is reversed."
