Marion Schmitz

Marion Schmitz, born in Paris in 1955, grew up in an artistic environment. Influenced by her parents' collection of contemporary art and many gallery-studio and exhibition visits, she tried very early on to make small watercolor drawings.

Marion Schmitz is self-taught and works since 2008 in graphics and then the computer.

She is inspired, rather intuitively, by changing environments and impressions.

The work of Marion Schmitz is based on abstract, geometric shapes, which resemble constructivist and minimal art, but also Far Eastern art. By turning, flipping, multiplying, overlaying, extruding, distorting and moving these shapes, she transfers her art into new geometric relationships that arise as invaluable themes.

Likewise, with color, the starting point is clear primary color, graduated or superimposed or used as gradients. Thus, new image spaces and magnificent bar compositions bring an astonishing variety of expressions to light.

Straight lines give the work structure and movement at the same time, creating in-screen space by offering a "red thread", a direction that the gaze of visitors and viewers can follow.

Marion Schmitz uses the computer not just as a medium, but as a tool. She works with paint on paper or Alubond to create wall-hung art.
